The Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project is a collaborative effort by 12 Northeastern Colorado water providers to improve the reliability of the Windy Gap Project. Chimney Hollow Reservoir will be located just west of Carter Lake in Larimer County. Its 90,000 acre-feet of dedicated storage capacity will supply a reliable 30,000 acre-feet of water each year for future generations. Construction began in August 2021 and is expected to last four years. The main dam at Chimney Hollow Reservoir is a 350-foot-tall asphalt core rockfill dam. It is only the second asphalt core dam built in the United States and by far the tallest. The on-site quarry supplies 62,000 tons of material every day, making it one of the largest mining operations in Colorado. To stay on schedule for main dam construction, crews will dump a 100 ton load every two minutes, 20 hours a day, six days a week for two and a half years.

The registration fee includes transportation to and from the convention center along with lunch.  All participants are required to ride the bus to and from the site. Long pants, closed-toe shoes, and safety vests are required.  Safety vests can be provided if you do not bring your own. Waivers will be required for all participants.
