Mr. Darrell Wilder is a Senior Associate for Terracon’s DC Metro North (Germantown, MD) office with over 25 years experience. Mr. Wilder has design and construction experience in geotechnical projects across the United States. His consulting experience includes field investigation, laboratory testing, instrumentation, and analysis and design of geotechnical structures. Mr. Wilder has an extensive geotechnical construction background. He has performed complete design, supervision, and monitoring of geotechnical solutions for large transportation, government, commercial, industrial, dam, and residential projects. Mr. Wilder also has significant structural experience having designed a variety of steel and concrete elements, including bulkhead and marine sheet wall systems. In addition, he has designed a large number of foundations and foundation-to-structure connections.
His project experience has included stability analysis and design of dams, landfills, embankments, and rock slopes; earth retaining structures including tied-back and braced excavation support systems; tunnels and microtunnels; deep foundations for transportation, commercial, and residential buildings; and underpinning of existing structures. Mr. Wilder has extensive experience in design and field supervision of drilled piers, micropiles, shoring, and tiebacks. Mr. Wilder has experience on the use of soil-improvement techniques for settlement reduction and soil bearing improvement. He also has extensive experience in design, installation, and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation. Mr. Wilder co-authored thirteen publications on practical technological applications and design in geotechnical engineering
