Dr Ed Tomlinson is President and Chief Meteorologist of Atmospheric Science Consultants (ASC) in Monument, Colorado. Dr Tomlinson received a BA from the University of Richmond, and MS and PhD degrees in Meteorology from the University of Utah. He served in the US Air Force for 21 years, flying 120 combat missions in Southeast Asia and was Chief Meteorologist for the Secretary of the Air Force for Special Projects. During his Air Force career he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, DoD Meritorious Service Medal and five Air Medals. After leaving the Air Force, he was the research coordinator for the Cooperative Institute for Research of the Atmosphere at Colorado State University (CIRA) and Chief Scientist for North American Weather Consultants in Salt Lake City. He taught meteorology at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs for eight years after teaching Advanced Cloud Physics at the University of Utah. The focus of ASC has been site-specific probable maximum precipitation (PMP), forensic meteorology, and weather modification. Currently Dr Tomlinson is a consultant to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
