Tetra Tech
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
After accidentally signing up for a geology class during the first semester of college in 2003, Will Levandowski graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University. He earned a PhD from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2014 for work on the density of the Western U.S. lithosphere. Dr. Levandowski was a Mendenhall Postdoctoral Fellow at the USGS Geologic Hazard Science Center in Golden, CO investigating the relationship between crustal stress and earthquakes in the central and eastern U.S and other areas far from tectonic plate boundaries—a line of research that continues to this day. He joined Tetra Tech in 2018, where his duties focus primarily on developing new methods for shallow subsurface imaging—mainly with gravity—for abanoned mine or karst detection and for dams, bridges, and other major infrastructure. Will remains at the forefront of efforts to understand seismic hazard and reduce risk in Colorado and other low-strain intraplate regions, having convened more than 20 sessions at national and international scientific meetings and authored more than 50 first-author studies on the topic. He was elected to the Colorado Earthquake Hazards Mitigation Council in 2019.
