Suppakit (MarK) Chomtid, PhD, PE will serve as the Engineering Manager and Lead Senior Geotechnical for Black & Veatch. Mr. Chomtid has more than 25 years of engineering experience mainly focused on geotechnical engineering. He has held technical responsibility for more than 500 public and private projects through Florida. His responsibilities have included overseeing geotechnical engineers, geologists, and scientists specializing in geotechnical investigation, design and construction. He is also responsible for planning and execution of geotechnical studies, analysis and evaluation of field data, reviewing of formal reports outlining foundation and site preparation recommendations, and field inspection of foundation construction, including shallow foundations, piling, drilled shafts, vibro-replacement, grouting, pile load test, earthen embankment and variety of control structures such as pipelines, intake structures, retaining walls and spillways. Other responsibilities have included pavement design, shallow/deep foundation design, slope stability design and analysis, planning and construction of groundwater monitoring wells, and materials engineering and testing. He has extensive experience in design and construction of earthen embankment including levees, reservoirs and clay settling area. He also has comprehensive background in investigating and remediating sinkhole-impacted structures and resolving other settlement challenges.
Throughout his career, Dr. Chomtid has maintained a focus on providing geotechnical design work for numerous private and public entities including, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Tampa Port Authority, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and multiple Florida Water Management Districts across Florida. He also has extensive experience providing geotechnical investigation of hundreds of acres on post/pre-mining land across Florida.
