Corey Schaal is a Geotechnical Engineer in Schnabel Engineering’s dams group in Greensboro, North Carolina. His geotechnical and dam engineering experience includes designing and conducting geotechnical investigation programs for high hazard potential dams; geotechnical analyses for dam rehabilitations and new dams, including embankment seepage and stability, seismic hazard and performance, and liquefaction potential and mitigation; design of seepage controls; instrumentation design, installation, and monitoring; construction contracting; dam safety inspections and emergency planning; rock mechanics; and rock slope stabilization. Corey is registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, as well as a Professional Geologist in North Carolina. He is a 2015 graduate of Ole Miss with a B.S. in Geological Engineering and a 2016 Virginia Tech graduate with a M.S. in Civil Engineering. Corey also serves as the Young Professional Vice-Chair on the U.S. Society of Dams (USSD) Foundations Committee.
