Mark Killgore, PE, D.WRE, F.ASCE is the ASDSO State Representative for Virginia and. is the Lead Dam Safety Engineer for Virginia having joined as a Regional Engineer in 2017. Other career experience includes work on FERC dam safety and relicensing projects as a consultant and as Implementation Manager for Puget Sound Energy’s Dam Safety Capital Program. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Board Certification in Water Resources Engineering.
Mark graduated from Seattle University with a double major in Spanish and civil engineering. His first job had him working on a hydroelectric dam feasibility study. He later earned a master’s in civil engineering with a focus on water resources and the environment. While working for EBASCO Services (now AECOM), Mark spent much of his time on H&H design and writing EIS’s for hydro projects.
A key area of practice for him was dam safety engineering. He worked on many independent consultant teams for FERC regulated projects specializing in dam break studies and PMFs.
In his spare time, he does volunteer work with Project Amigo, which helps students create educational opportunities in his wife’s home state of Colima, Mexico. He has volunteered at ASDSO, ASCE, EWRI, NHA and other organizations and held leadership positions. A favorite is the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board of for the Hydropower Foundation, which focuses on creating the dam and hydro engineers of tomorrow. He currently serves on the Research Committee for the NDSRB as a state representative.
