Kenneth E. “Tres” Henn III is a Senior Engineering Geologist with the Dam Safety Modification Center (DSMC), Huntington District. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Cincinnati. He started his USACE career in 1991 at the former ORD Laboratory – Geology and Materials Lab located in Cincinnati, OH conducting rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and concrete/materials testing. Due to Corps-wide Laboratory Reduction in Force (RIF), he transferred to Louisville District in 1997 Geotechnical and Dam Safety Section. He served as Regional Technical Specialist (RTS) Geologist from 2006-2010 and Senior Geologist with the Risk Management Center from 2010-2011, Louisville District Geology Subject Matter Expert (SME) from 2011-2024, and recently began serving as Senior Engineering Geologist for the DSMC. He has conducted various investigations, designs, and construction efforts on various Flood Risk Management (FRM) Dams and Navigation Locks & Dams involving cutoff walls, grout curtains, lock replacements, and tunneling. He has conducted various inspections, risk assessments, reviews, and post-implementation evaluations on dams and levees across the USACE inventory.
