Adam Toothman is a registered professional engineer with more than 20 years of civil and structural engineering experience with a focus in design and analysis of concrete dams and hydraulic structures. He worked for 4 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Huntington District. He then worked for 15 years with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation at the Technical Service Center in Denver, CO where he was a design team project manager for a number of final design projects including spillway modifications, outlet works replacement, and dam raise projects all using Risk-Informed Design. He was the team lead for numerous dam safety Issue Evaluations, Comprehensive Dam Reviews, risk evaluation studies, and author of quantitative risk analysis reports. Adam joined HDR in 2022 in their Denver, CO office where he is a technical lead for the design of 3 new RCC dam projects. He has been the hydraulic structures subject matter expert for semi-quantitative and quantitative risk analyses for local, state, and other federal government agencies. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University and a Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
