Mr. Brian Schroeder, a Registered Professional Engineer, is a Senior Project Manager for Collins Engineers, Inc. in the St. Paul, MN office. He has 24 years of experience performing the inspection and condition assessment of bridges, dams, hydroelectric facilities, overhead signs, traffic signals, high mast light poles and other civil structures. Inspections have been performed high above the ground using rope access and deep below water using diving equipment to assess conditions not otherwise seen. The structures inspected were constructed of steel, aluminum, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and timber. He is qualified by the National Bridge Inspection Standards as Team Leader and diver. Brian’s inspection capabilities are supplemented by his qualifications as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, a Society of Professional Rope Access Technician (SPRAT) Level II, and AWS Certified Welding Inspector. He has performed over 3,000 inspections for federal, state, local agencies, and private owners. Mr. Schroeder has also performed load rating of highway bridges. While underwater, Mr. Schroeder has performed each of the three levels of underwater inspection. He has visually and tactilely inspected, cleaned marine grown to inspected behind it, and performed non-destructive testing to identify the remaining section properties of steel members. Early in his career, Brian also designed bridges and other steel structures using standard details and one-off designs to create plan sets for construction.
