Keith Kelson (M.S., C.E.G.) has 38 years of experience in Earth science consulting and government service, currently with the USACE South Pacific Division Dam Safety Production Center. Kelson is characterizing hydrologic and seismic hazards for dams, levees, and other infrastructure, all within a purposeful risk-informed framework. He leads multiple paleoflood analyses for dam-safety risk assessments nationwide, and is lead author for ETL-1100-2-4, the USACE guidance on application of paleoflood analyses for flow frequency analyses. He serves on the USACE Senior Oversight Group for dam and levee safety evaluations, the Steering Committee for the USGS National Seismic Hazard Map, is a co-author of the USACE/USBR manual on Best Practices in Dam and Levee Safety Evaluations and is an instructor for the USACE Visiting Scholars and PROSPECT Programs. He has published in academic journals and industry proceedings and is honored to relay experience to curious and productive technical colleagues.
