Doug is a civil engineer with over 39 years of experience in dam safety and water resources engineering and management. He is currently Regional Engineer for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Division of Dam Safety and Inspections, in the Portland Regional Office, and is responsible for dam safety at non-federal hydropower dams in 6 northwestern states. Prior to 2011, he was supervisor of Engineering and Dam Safety for the Washington State Department of Ecology and oversaw dam safety in the state of Washington for 13 years. Doug has completed numerous dam inspections and analyses while at Washington State and FERC. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington in 1982. Doug served as President of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials from 2002 to 2003 and was on the Board of Directors 1999-2004. He is a registered professional engineer in Washington State, and a member of ASDSO and USSD.
