Dr. Newman is a civil engineer with over 17 years of experience in geotechnical investigation, inspection, engineering, civil design and construction support services for a variety of water resources projects including levees and dams. He has played key roles on many projects relating to slope stability, static and seismic evaluation of dams and levees, numerical modeling of liquefaction and ground improvement, dynamic soil-structure interaction modeling, foundation design, rock mechanics, and design. Dr. Newman's dissertation research was in paleoseismology and liquefaction of natural soil deposits. His other research interests included the shear strength and durability of geosynthetic liners and residual shear strength of soils.
