Kenneth Smith is a past-President of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO). He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Indiana, with 48 years of experience, in civil / water resource engineering, design, project and construction management, dam and levee safety, floodplain management, permitting, compliance, legislative and litigation support, and public outreach. He has been in supervisory, management, and leadership roles of public, nonprofit, and volunteer organizations. He is one of the founding members of the Indiana Silver Jackets Team. With ASDSO he served as a state representative, multiple terms as a Board of Directors member, in all Board Officer positions, and on several ASDSO committees including the Program Peer Review Program Committee, the Financial Committee, Dam Owner Outreach Committee, and Safety at Dams Committee. He also served on the National Dam Safety Board of Review, an advisory group for FEMA’s national dam safety program. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Butler University. He has served as the Interim Director, Division of Water, Indiana DNR, and currently serves as an Assistant Director leading the Projects and Compliance Branch (which includes the Dam and Levee Safety Section).
